SUMMARY:2 Hour Parks & Rec Training
DESCRIPTION:-2 hour stormwater course for municipal staff who work for parks and recreation/open space departments \n  \nGoals of the course: \n\nProcedures to prevent or reduce stormwater pollution from the following operations:\n\nParks and Open Space Ground Maintenance\nApplication of pesticides\, herbicides\, and fertilizers\nVegetation management/nutrient source reduction\nApplicable rules for outdoor storage areas within the MS4 boundary\nIllicit discharges including trash\n\n\nOverlap with other MS4 operations such as sweeper use\, large outdoor festivals and events\, small unpermitted construction projects\nBriefly discuss SCM and establishing if parks and open space is responsible for the maintenance of any SCMs on their lands and during construction who is responsible for MS4 oversight if it applies (counties may have projects outside their regulated MS4 boundary).  How is new drainage infrastructure captured in stormwater mapping/asset management programs?\nProvide information about other CSC and CSU/Colorado Stormwater Center MS4 opportunities (e.g. Construction Compliance (CSC) \, SCM inspection and maintenance (CSU Stormwater Center)\n\nQuestions participants should be able to answer after taking the training \n\nHow does an MS4 permit relate to Parks and Open Space operations?\nCan I wash my truck and mower down on the pavement with soap or degreasers?\nDo stockpiles need containment?\nAre control measures/best management practices required for small construction projects and maintenance when there are no stormwater permits?\nIs it important to understand who is responsible for maintenance of an SCM located on parks property?\nAre there best management practices associated with herbicide use?
